Ama K Abebrese Stripped Out Of Upcoming Ghana Movie Awards’ Discovery Of The Year Nomination: A Big Fraud Or A Genuine Mistake

Wed, 1 Dec 2010 Source: --

Information reaching GhanaCelebrities.Com has it that, the “Sinking Sands” lead-Ama K Abebrese who was announced as a nominee under the “Discovery Of The Year” category and “Best Actress In A Leading Role” for the upcoming Ghana Movie Awards has been stripped of her former nomination.( She was the only Actress nominated in two categories)

When I contacted Ama K to ascertain the credibility of this information, she confirmed the stripping and tagged it as “unfortunate”.

According to the “Sinking Sands” star, she was called yesterday by the organizers of the Awards who said, they mistakenly included her as a nominee in the “Discovery Of The Year” category and as such her name will be excluded from that category on the final day of the Awards.

I have followed several awards that roots from Ghana for years and I am immeasurably aware of the various corruption and sabotage that exist in most of these Awards.

I am not insinuating any mischief since this can be a “honest” mistake but this is Ghana we are talking about, everything is possible even right below your nose.

What baffles my mind most is the fact that, the Awards’ organizers themselves sent out the nominations to the various Media Houses which has since been in the public domain. How on earth are they going to rectify their so called “mistake” days after publications and celebrations?

What if Ama K Abebrese has already called her family out of joy to inform them of the honour done her? How is she going to tell them of this mistake?

On a serious note, if the Actress is good enough to fit the “Best Actress In A Leading Role” category and she was literally discovered this year, what makes it not right for her to befit the “Discovery Of The Year” category?

If the organizers want to cultivate some sort of credibility for this annual “Ghana Movie Awards”, then they better start today and drift themselves away from such “Mistakes”. Now, who else will they say was mistakenly put in a category? Juliet Ibrahim or who?
