Just hours before the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) began, popular American-based Ghanaian artiste, Amaarae, pulled out of her scheduled performance at the awards.

In a post on her Twitter account, Amaarae stated that she faced "incredible disrespect" from the event's production team, Charterhouse.

She explained that her production crew faced disregard, and she was denied a rehearsal the night before the event.

Mr. Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse Ghana, shed light on the situation during an interview on Hitz FM.

According to him, the cause of Amaarae's withdrawal was a series of "unaligned expectations" between the artiste and the event organizers.

He explained that initially, there was a specific request from Amaarae that was not met. However, this issue was eventually resolved before the main event. Despite this resolution, other undisclosed issues arose, leading to the artiste's decision to withdraw from the performance.

“I would summarize it as unaligned expectations. Indeed, there was a request that was not met initially, but eventually, it was met.

“But then again, beyond that, other things came up, and while working on it, the artiste decided to pull out.

“That was at the beginning, but then before the day, before the final day itself, or before the main event, those things were sorted out,” he stated.

Robert Klah refrained from delving into the specifics of these additional concerns but noted that any further discussions regarding the situation would remain private and handled directly between the artiste and the organizers.

He stated that the TGMA organizers are reportedly working on addressing these concerns to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
