The ever-green Highlife musician, Amakye Dede, has attributed the lack of development in his hometown (Asante-Akim Agogo) to the failure on the part of his people to resolve the misunderstanding existing between them and the queen mother.

According to the musician, if the people of his hometown agree to work hand-in-hand with the queen mother as well as relevant government authorities, the town would regain its past glory.

Speaking on Adom FM’s ‘Dwaso Nsem Morning Show’ on Thursday, a down-hearted Amakye Dede, who has used his music and stage performances in Ghana and beyond to promote the image of Asante Akim Agogo, disclosed that it is unfortunate that the seeming conflict had led to a fall in the lofty heights once occupied by Agogo.

Agogo in the Asante Akim North District of the Ashanti Region of Ghana has produced a long list of eminent citizens, not least of which is the late Kwadwo Baah Wiredu, whose exploits at the Finance, Local Government and Education ministries are still being touted.

Among others, the town is battling with the invasion of its farmlands and rape of its women by Fulani herdsmen, bad roads especially those leading to the Agogo Government Hospital, unlighted streets and growing heaps of filth.

This is especially worrying in the wake of the cholera outbreak in the country sweeping across the country.

He called on the people of the town to make a special effort to live peacefully together and help develop the area.

“In order to help the queen mother, I want the people to come together because, without it, we can never move on as a nation. I am also calling on the government to come to our aid and make our community a tourist attraction,” he added.
