Are you still running your mouth? - Andy Dosty to Ambolley

Ace radio presenter and disc jockey with Hitz FM Andy Dosty cannot fathom why Gyedu-Blay Ambolley will have the guts to dare Okyeame Kwame to proceed to court after the veteran highlife musician failed to provide evidence to substantiate a claim that the rapper received GHc 50,000 from the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

Ambolley had stated without any equivocation on 3FM that he had evidence that former president of the union Bice Osei Kuffuor (Obour) gave Okyeame Kwame, Ben Brako and other friends GHS 50,000 each from the GHS 2m fiscal budget money which was given to the union by the government in 2012.

His comment triggered reactions from Okyeame Kwame and Ben Brako as they asked him to retract and apologise or face them in court, stressing that the allegations were unfounded.

For Ben Brako, Ambolley behaved “despicably by publicly accusing some of his fellow musicians, and specifically, me, without a shred of evidence, as there is absolutely no truth to his assertion that Obuor gave me 50,000 Ghana cedis from Musigha funds… I reserve the right to sue him and label him a fool. Only a fool and idiot will make such a serious allegation without evidence.”

His ferocious rebuttal came barely two days after Okyeame Kwame had through his lawyers given Ambolley a 72-hour ultimatum to retract and apologise – a period the accuser deemed short as he asked for a week to crosscheck his facts.

“Not yet,” he responded when asked if he was ready to retract and apologise. “It’s something that happened. If he says he did not receive anything, let him say he didn’t receive anything. But I know those who surrounded Obour, some monies were issued to them.”

“We spoke and I told him that a week after, I would come back to him because I know that some things happened there… If he wants to take it to court, he can. He is part and parcel of those that were surrounding Obour. Like he said, he was with Obour for two years. If he says he didn’t receive it, that’s fine,” he noted.

Two days to the end of his requested grace period, Ambolley told GhanaWeb he stands by his comments. He dared Okyeame Kwame to go to court if he so wishes.

“When the accountability is made on the two million Cedis that the government gave to creative arts that ended into the hands of MUSIGA, we will see openly those that benefited from the two million Cedis. I stand by my statement”, he noted.

His unbowed stance seems to have led Andy Dosty puzzled as the radio personality wondered on the Wednesday edition of his show how Ambolley is exhibiting such bravery.

“Is Ambolley still running his mouth?” he asked. “What evidence does he have?”
