Opinionated award-winning actress, Lydia Forson has said she is “absolutely” sure President Akufo-Addo government has not lived up to expectation stating that the president set himself up to be a failure by giving huge promises and being arrogant about it.
She was speaking on Citi TV with AJ Sarpong on Hall of Fame followed by MyNewsGh.com.
She said this is attributable to the numerous promises made by the Akufo-Addo government and immediately they won, she knew they were doomed to fail. “You know when they won the election I wrote a piece, it was supposed to feature in the New African Woman. I said that you know what, they were setting themselves up for failure.” She said.
“But because of all the promises they made and the boldness with which they made them. They were almost arrogant about their promises,” she intimated.
“My article was based on their social media promises. They wanted to win by any means necessary. But I think when you have been in opposition for a very long time you forget what is like to be the head that wears the crown. So maybe any other party government may not be frustrated as we are. Maybe things take time to pick up,” she told AJ.
The success of the NPP administration was largely based on the ambitious and mouth-watering campaign promises the then-presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo churned to millions of supporters and voters.
