The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Evans Nana Kwaku Atwere has blast persons in the creative arts industry over their continuous endorsement of political parties and presidential candidates.

Sections of the creative arts industry players have been endorsing President John Dramani Mahama and Nana Akuffo Addo’s candidature ahead of the November polls. Key among them is Michael Kwaku Ola PRO for FIPAG, John Dumelo, Mr. Beautiful, Bukom Banku, Samuel Kwabena Darko and others.

But, sharing his thought on the development, Kwaku Atwere said he sees no reasons why a celebrity or an icon would endorse a political party or politician.

“Our work cuts across; we make everybody joyful through our music and movies irrespective of the political affiliation’’. I don’t think it is ok for us to do such things", he added

He said it's reckless for icons to endorse a political party or presidential candidate.

Speaking in an interview with Demajesty of SeanCitygh.com at Center for National Culture in Kumasi, Kwaku Atwere stated he is highly disappointed in the film makers who have endorsed presidential candidates especially Michael Kwaku Ola.

According to him, Ola has disappointed the entire members in the creative art fraternity and must be called to order.

Kwaku Atwere who is vying for the Ashanti Regional Chairman for MUSIGA blasted Ola who holds such a high position in one of the respected unions in the creative industry for endorsing a presidential candidate ahead of this year’s elections.

He concluded by admonishing industry players to back off from endorsing political parties and their presidential candidates.
