Hiplife artiste Atom rides on the number one hit song across Africa “Khona” by Mafikizolo from South Africa to drop another great masterpiece. Most artistes in the country have done their bit with the dance-able beat but Atom’s piece with his video has got him massive airplay and a lot of attention in the general public.
According to some mobile and club DJ’s their audience prefer Atom’s refix even more than the real “Khona” by Mafikizolo judging from their response to it and sing along during club play.
Speaking to Atom in a phone interview, he noted he love the instrumentation of the “Khona” song from the talented South African artiste. He said even though it a danceable tune, he was motivated by the fact that he is one of the countless millions who drew inspiration from Nelson Mandela's life and felt like he can use something from his land to pay him his last respect.
Sounding very somber on phone, he said Mandela is one of Africa’s son we going to miss globally all our lives.
“In the end, Nelson Mandela showed us how to love rather than hate, not because he had never surrendered to rage or violence, but because he learnt that love would do a better job.”
“Today, finally, he blinked. And some of us cry, knowing our eyes were opened to so much because of him. Of all the tributes that flowed in the wake of Mandela’s death on December 5, my piece is meant to put smiles back on the faces of all who mourns the great Africa son especially South Africans.”
“This is a great man who needs to be celebrated all the time. It is sad he gone but I feel he smiles at us and we need to smile back at him. May his soul rest in perfect peace” he said.
