Founder and leader of the Glorious Word Ministry International, Rev Owusu Bempah is asking organisers of award schemes to honour hiplife artistes Sidney and A-Plus for their recent works aimed at entreating the Ghanaian electorate to vote out the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Rev Owusu Bempah who has predicted a win for New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in this year’s presidential elections scheduled for December 7 is of the view that the songs were well composed and will have an impact on the populace.
“Award schemes for musicians should award Sidney and A Plus next year. Their songs are among the best produced this year. People should listen to the words and act accordingly and it would be in our interest. The songs are nice. God bless Sidney and A Plus,” he said on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review.
Sidney in July released a single titled ‘Mutashi’ which was produced by Dr. Ray Beatz. The rapper touched on issues including high rate of graduate unemployment, the incessant corrupt practices, high cost of living and urged the populace to vote on issues.
A-Plus on the other hand released ‘Abenbebom’ in September on which he took a swipe at the Mahama-led administration. According to the controversial artiste, President Mahama and the NDC are driving Ghana into a ditch as the country is retrogressing at a progressive rate.
The piece produced by Appietus touched on the continuous depreciation of the cedi against major trading currencies and what A-Plus described as rots in governance, among others.
The song was however met with criticisms from Kwesi Pratt Jnr, Managing Editor of Insight Newspaper that most of the lyrics were based on rumors.
