Highlife musician Kofi Boakye Yaidom popularly known as Kofi B has taken a swipe at award organizers in Accra saying “they are not genuine”.
According to the Kumasi-based musician, the organizers in Accra do not consider the good works of other artistes in other regions like Kumasi, Tamale et al, adding that they don’t have enough knowledge of the job.
“The awards in Accra are bogus, they don’t know how to do the job. Organizers in Accra have rather divided the country into two where their research is mostly in Accra forgetting about the others,” he said.
He continued that, “There are most songs that are big in Kumasi, Tamale and others that most people are aware of but yet they have been avoided.”
Kofi B advised that organizers inculcate the habit of promoting local songs rather than promoting music from the Diaspora to enable young artists learn.
“The country is dividing into two and we need to be careful and act well in the music industry,” he added.
Kofi B is a modern day highlife musician who has stayed true to the rudiments of the genre.
