On October 11, 2024, after a two-year hiatus, the B.A.R 7 Concert made its comeback.

Held at the Alliance Française Ghana in Accra, the concert aimed to continue its tradition of uniting hip-hop artistes and fans for an unforgettable night.

However, it faced a familiar challenge in event organisation in Ghana and that is starting at the given time.

Promotional materials announced a 6 PM start time, and the organisers were commendably prepared by then.

The stage, DJ, and opening acts were all set, and the few guests who arrived early were eager to start.

Yet, they found themselves waiting until 9 PM before the MC finally took the stage.

Despite this hiccup, the show was a resounding success! The opening acts performed admirably, and the lighting, sound, and stage management were all on point.

Even a brief downpour couldn’t dampen the spirit, as the MC engaged the audience with freestyle sessions and invited them on stage.

It was inspiring to see many young, hungry talents, such as Elsie Raad and GinGsen, showcasing their skills, proving that hip-hop still has a bright future in Ghana, even as the genre appears to be slowly fading.

After vibrant performances by Quamina MP and Lyrical Joe, EL himself graced the stage.

He generously shared the spotlight with many of his opening acts, creating a unique experience that is seldom seen on larger stages in the country. When EL finally took the mic for himself, he delivered an unforgettable set of hits that thrilled the ecstatic crowd.

The concert concluded at midnight, thanks to effective organizing and strict venue management.

Overall, B.A.R. 7 was a blast, demonstrating that hip-hop is far from dead, it’s alive and thriving.

The birth of B.A.R concert

In 2013, rapper Elom Adablah, popularly known as EL, made a defining choice that shaped his artistry and fostered growth in a genre that constantly demands fresh ideas.

He decided to host a hip-hop-only concert, bringing together friends and artistes who shared a deep respect for the craft.

Termed (B.A.R); Best African Rapper, the concert seeks to gather hip-hop enthusiasts to explore what the genre has to offer in the Ghanaian market.
