An NDC National Executive Council meeting convened last Friday degenerated into a shouting bout among ''pro-reformists'' and ''pro-Rawlings'' factions of the party. In the event, pro-reformists, led by Deputy General Secretary, Baba Jamal; National Women’s Organiser, Frances Essiam and National Youth Organiser, Haruna Iddrisu threatened to resign from the party.

The Youth wing of the party is said to be unhappy with the deep-seated rift between the founder of the party, Flt Lt Rawlings and party chairman, Dr Obed Asamoah.

The reformists who identify themselves as ''the democratic faction'' want the party to ''cleanse itself and renew its image'' by relegating Rawlings to a spectator status. They are complaining that the party currently lacks ideology and the appropriate strategy to fight the NPP.

But the first national vice chairman of the party, Huudu Yahaya and E.T. Mensah, called the bluff off the reformists and challenged them to quit.
