Gospel musician Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong, aka Great Ampong has called on event organisers to give gospel music some room in their events to promote the genre.
Great Ampong made this appeal in an interview with Linda Abrefi Wadie citing the recent performance of 'No Tribe' at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2015 as a typical example of the impact Gospel music can have at shows and concerts.
"Most people do not attend Gospel music shows due to the misconception that Gospel artistes are boring entertainers. You can testify to the spark the performance of 'No Tribe' added to the VGMA," he said.
During the 16th edition of the VGMA held last Saturday, Gospel music duo ‘No Tribe’ blew the minds of attendees with an astonishing performance.
The group not only at the VGMAs but at other events show their ‘Christotainment’ factor and indeed change the misconception that gospel artistes are dull.
The group had a massive control over the crowd as they performed to their hit praises and worship songs like ‘Enyonyam Ka Nyankopon’, ‘Mede Be Mawo’, and ‘Hallelujah’. This left the crowd up on their feet throughout their performance while they danced and sung along.
What made the crowd go gaga was the moment a member of the duo, Nacy, stood behind the Fontomfrom drum and played some tunes while his counterpart, Lord Osei showered appellations to God.
The gospel duo was adjudged the Best Gospel Artiste of the Year award later that night.
