French musician Laurent Phenis, popularly known as Bambouman, will on Friday October 18, showcase his skills on bamboo instruments at a concert at the Alliance Française in Accra.
Currently based in the French Island of Martinique, he has designed and fashioned out diverse bamboo instruments, which he employs during his numerous concerts in various parts of the world.
In the process he created what is now known as Bamboo Music, which is characterized by the use of various instruments made from bamboo. Indeed, Phenis has delighted audiences with imaginative concerts using his bamboo instruments.
A workshop on the manufacture and use of bamboo instruments would be moderated by Phenis at the Arts Centre in Accra and a number of schools as part of his tour of Ghana.
Conseil Régional de Martinique, Institut Français (Ghana) and the Alliance Française (Accra) are sponsoring the concert.
