Nana Agyeman, a Kumawood movie director and producer has enumerated some problems facing them as producers in the movie industry.
Nana Agyemang, in an interview with Flex newspaper spoke on the recent exorbitant fees actors charge for a role. He first of all disclosed how they go for bank loans with the aim of paying back after sales, which costs them quite a fortune if never materialized. “Banks come in for our property and even production items that are used as collateral, which is placing most of the production houses in the movie industry out of business,” he said.
As the owner of a production house called Royal Jonas Films, he has produced movies like Sikadurofie, Sika Anibre, Anibre Nti, Walking Zombies and Omanpanin Saman. He opined on how most of the popular Actors are killing them with their Charges.
“The funny thing is that, after the actor or actress has charged you, his or her hotel bills are borne by you. So the more they stay the higher the cost, money making is not guaranteed therefore a lot of producers in Kumawood are on the run,” he said. “We used these popular and known faces which are charging us so much because they sell the movie and have the fans. When you use any other person, your movie will not sell, so we have no option than to use these faces in our movies,” he added.
The above was the answer he gave when he was asked why they are keen on using these actors or actress they claim are too exorbitant. Royal Jonas Films Production is out with another movie titled “ABATUOR MU NSEM” produced by Nana Agyeman and features actors and actress like Salinko, Kala Kumasi, Maame Serwaa, Jonas Twene, Mary Anti, Ash Ibu and Agyemang Eugene.
The movie is out on the market and he advised all movie Lovers to grab a copy and learn the lesson displayed in the movie.
