Barber fined two million cedis for stealing mobile phone

Tema, Jan. 26, GNA- The Tema Circuit court "A" on Monday fined a barber, Joseph Tamatey, alias Paa Nii, two million cedis for stealing a mobile phone and cash belonging to a neighbour.

Tamatey who pleaded guilty would to go jail for two years in default.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Mary Assunta told the court, presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu, that at about 1000 hours on January 18, Tamatey, who is a regular visitor to Madam Elizabeth Dadi's resident at Lashibi, near Ashaiman, went to her deliver a message to Madam Dadi. She said Madam Dadi saw the accused person off and went to fetch water from a nearby house. However, on her return she detected that her Nokia mobile phone and a cash of 90,000 were missing.

She suspected the accused person and lodged a complaint with the police whose investigations led to his arrest.
