Ghanaian-British born Jeffrey Boateng, known in the media space as Harm Kay, has said that he loves it when presenters and event hosts have great control and know how to hype a crowd anytime they are on an event.
According to the UK’s favourite Ghanaian presenter and celebrated event host, hosting an event or presenting a show should be passion driven.
In an interview with the DAILY HERITAGE, Kay, who flew in from London to host an extravagant wedding last Saturday, April 27 2019, at Labadi Beach Hotel, said he was spotted on stage last year summer whilst hosting the UK Festival ‘Ghana Party in the Park’ by the groom, Mr M. E. Adu, who later invited him to host his wedding.
Speaking to Kay, he said his recent event, which was a memorable wedding, was attended by some high profile and celebrity guests in Ghana and was hash-tagged ‘The Royal Wedding’.
He said the guests included musicians Kwabena Kwabena and Samini, presenter MC Commotion and official DJ for the reception, DJ Mensah (Sarkodie’s official DJ).
The guest testimonials revealed how much they enjoyed the wedding receptions and passed comments like “The thing we loved about him was the way he kept the crowd engaged with musical games, jokes and dancing.
He warmed everyone up, so when it came to partying it was easy for everyone to leave their seats. He made sure he included all nationalities whenever he was on the microphone and whilst making jokes about different cultures.”
Kay, who is a great fan of Eddy Blaze, Bola Ray and Richard Blackwood, “loves it when event organisers have great communication between the host so they know what is happening next during the event so that the host can enjoy the job no matter the levels of stress”
The radio presenter and event host, who always keep the party lit and fun-packed, added that aside himself, “Bola Ray is very articulate and has great engagement with his audience when hosting an event and on radio. Eddy Blaze also has great control and knows how to hype a crowd. Richard Blackwood, not only is he hilarious but can switch from jokes to seriousness and bring it back, which is a gift, but I think I’m unique because I always just do my thing and have fun with it.”
The 31-year-old presenter has hosted headline concerts at venues such as O2 Arena for acts, including Sarkodie, Bisa K’dei, Kuami Eugene, King Promise, Medikal and Shatta Wale, to name a few.
When asked how it felt to host his first wedding in Ghana, he replied “I was nervous. I get stomach bugs before any wedding or show I host, but maybe because this one was in my Motherland, it added to my nerves. All vendors were amazing to work with and the guests were so warm and loving. It felt like I was hosting in front of my own family. Before the reception, DJ Mensah advised me to just do me and come with my normal energy.”
