Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei Duah, Founder and Leader of the Philadelphia Movement, has issued a stern warning to the Christian Council of Ghana in response to a press statement they published about him.
Adom Kyei Duah recently announced that he has received divine instructions to replace all depictions of Jesus Christ with his own image.
He claimed that this change would be implemented for the next 500 years.
“Listen to me, for the next 500 years, the images of Jesus you see on calendars and in pictures around. I have been instructed to replace it with my face,” he said.
His announcement sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with some netizens expressing shock and others finding the news amusing.
In response to his comments, the Christian Council of Ghana issued a press statement titled "Beware of False Teachers and Messiahs," condemning the leader of the Philadelphia Movement for suggesting that his face should replace the widely recognized image of Jesus.
The Council stated that Prophet Adom Kyei Duah is not, and cannot be, the Jesus that Christians seek.
They emphasized that there is only one Jesus for Christians, who was born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, and was crucified on the cross.
"Firstly, we wish to state unequivocally that Prophet Adom Kyei Duah is not and cannot be the Jesus that Christians seek in Ghana or the world at large," part of the statement read.
Reacting to this, Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei Duah quickly issued a rebuttal, warning the Christian Council of Ghana to be cautious and respectful.
Adom Kyei Duah claims that events from the Bible are about to repeat themselves. He announced plans to reenact the Passion of Christ, stating that many aspects of the Bible were not accurately portrayed in existing Jesus Christ movies.
“I am issuing a warning to the Christian Council of Ghana: Respect! Respect the elderly. Men of God, respect. I am warning you again, respect. This is Stephen Adom Kyei Duah speaking. I have announced that I will be acting in a film about Jesus.”
“…Everything that happened in the Bible is about to repeat itself because the roles were not portrayed accurately. Those who played the roles of wicked pastors in the Bible did not do it well. Therefore, Christian Council, you need to be cautious. Next time, follow the regulations because we are about to reenact the life of Jesus,” he told his largely seated congregation.
