Ghanaian Rapper, Emmanuel Botchey known in the showbiz circles as Kwaw Kesse has described his time in Kumasi Central Prison as a million dollar experience.

“God works in mysterious ways, he took me there for a purpose so that all my projects could come to pass, so I thank God I had the chance to go through that, it was a million dollar experience” he said.

He spoke to Mzgee on the Daybreak Hitz (Showbiz Review) show on Hitz Fm.

Kwaw launched the GHC 1 campaign which he has called on Ghanaians especially market women to donate just one cedi each to build industries in the various prisons across the country.

The campaign was inspired by his recent experience in Kumasi prison where he was incarcerated for allegedly smoking a narcotic substance and later released.

However, Kwaw has taken his GHC 1 campaign a step ahead, the Fanti rapper moved from the market which is his usual collection point to some corporate entities and his first point of call was the Multimedia Group Limited.

When asked how prominent his GHC 1project has been since it was launched, the ‘Massa I beg’ Rapper said “It’s going great, I think Ghanaians have sympathy, when I started this project, people thought it was just one of those things, but now I have been going round and the donation has been massive”.

He continued that, “The bible even says for God loves a cheerful giver and some people are in need so we have to support them”.

‘Abodam’ concluded that, the project is to empower inmates to assist them develop their skills, fend for themselves and their dependants and live a meaningful life.
