Black Messiah plays for Mac Tontoh

Patrons who made it to the NEXT DOOR BEACH, located along the Accra coast last Saturday could not hold back their excitement as they were thrilled to nonstop live performances from the ever energized Black Messiah.

The occasion, according to Messiah was a tribute to the legendary Mac Tonto of the osibisa fame and an opportunity to meet various media giants.

Messiah also known as Hardcore Gavenor explained why he chose to organize a concert for Mac Tontoh, saying that “Mac made me”. He recalled how he met the legendary Mac Tontoh in the 1990’s, recounting how he, together with others handpicked by mac were subjected to an intensive indoor training after which they toured almost every district capital in Ghana.

Messiah later become a young member of the Kete Warriors and presented his first big show at the Pan African Festival(PANAFEST), the first African Home and Abroad Emancipation Day in 2000.There, he performed alongside Sharon Karts from South Africa and the world acclaimed band legends OSIBISA.

In the year 2000, the Kete Warriors began the Mac Tontoh Project UK Tour 2000 and it was under the management of Amanas Music records, the project sent them to both the UK and the USA were they performed at various concerts.

Speaking about the show, Gyattaman, the manager of messiah said “it was a terrific show of energy and good music”. He described the musician as a ‘’powerhouse’’ adding that ‘’ the time has come to feed the ears of listeners with good music and that is what I see in messiah”.
