Highlife artiste, Kaakyire Kwame Fosu (K.K. Fosu) has accused Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) as the main cause of Tramadol abuse amongst youth in Ghana.

He blamed the FDA for being too liberal in performing their required task to impose strict sanctions on importers of such deadly drugs into the country.

In an interview with Pomaa Kyekyeku on Kasapa FM’s Aben Wo Ha show, the “Six O’clock” hit singer stated that the F.D.A should take measures to stop the sale of Tramadol.

“The FDA is a very weak organization. These boys who go around selling all kind of chemical drugs get it from unlicensed pharmacy shops. Those boys are the cause of abuse of Tramadol.

A well established and licensed pharmacy will not sell Tramadol to any individual without the permission of a doctor. Therefore, the FDA should not allow any unlicensed agency or organization to import such drugs.” He said

He further blamed the FDA for being corrupt and allowing most illegal things into the country without proper supervision.

“The FDA is very corrupt because they are well aware of so many things that come to Ghana which ideally, are not supposed to. But they should know that whatever they do affect the entire country. Moreover, we are the ones who put them in power.

I’ll plead that the president checks a little more on this because it is damaging the youth.” He said.
