Alhaji Sidiku Buari, President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), and acting board chairman of the Copyright Society of Ghana, COSGA has dragged Compuprint Ltd.,, publishers of the P&P newspaper and Joris Jordon Duodoo, a staff-writer of the paper before the law courts for a series of libelous publications, he said was calculated to destroy his hard earned reputation.
A writ of summons issued in Accra stated that Joris Jordon Duodoo and the P&P newspaper have for sometime now been publishing false stories against Alhaji Sidiku Buari without caring to first crosscheck their facts with him.
The writ further stated that the publications were not only malicious but scandalous and have greatly injured the reputation and character of Alhaji Sidiku Buari, who is also the vice president of the international federation of musicians and brought him to public ridicule.
Alhaji Sidiku is, therefore, seeking an injunction to restrain the defendants, their servants and agents from further publishing the libelous stories against him.
He is claiming two billion cedis (? 2,000,000) as damages and cost.
