Bola Ray wins MBA 2013 Business Idea Competition

Brains at work! Broadcaster and entrepreneur Nathaniel Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray is the winner of a 2013 MBA Business Idea Competition.

The MBA Business Idea Competition was put together during an MBA program by the Altis Business School, Catholic University of Milan, Italy, and dubbed MBA Global Business and Sustainability – Social Entrepreneurship Track, seeks to prepare new class of Ghanaian entrepreneurs who combine economic success with social and environmental sustainability.


Candidates were required to submit their business ideas to a panel of investors who judged its economic viability and social-environmental impact.


Bola Ray came tops.


The program was held in 2013. The second edition starts from September 27, 2014 to September 2015. The organisers told GhanaGist.Com that, the program has started in Kenya and after Ghana, with Sierra Leone next in line. The program is expected to be in some ten African countries including South Africa and Nigeria by the end of 2015.


“It’s great to win this award. I’m proud of this because I came up with about 32 people. I’m most grateful and I must say that, it has opened the door for great things to come. It was highly competitive and I salute all my other guys who took part in the competition,” Bola Ray who picked the nod ahead of thirty-two students told GhanaGist.Com.


The training he says has come of use: “It puts us on a pedestal of being a social entrepreneur that what we are learning, certainly we are going to put it into paper.” Present at the award presentation were his lecturers: Prof. Brad Googins and Dr. Fabio Petroni.

Bola Ray is the CEO of the Empire group of companies, which include Empire Entertainment, and Empire 102.7 FM in Takoradi, among other subsidiaries.


He is JOY FM’s Drive Time host. He’s been hosting it for the past decade.


This feat has opened opportunities for Bola Ray and his Empire Group of Companies to partner and work with global businesses.
