Boy Fined for Assault

A man in his early twenties was on Tuesday found guilty of assault at the Imoru Ziblim Circuit Court in Accra for causing harm to his friend.

The Court found Kwame Adjei, the accused, guilty on his own plea and fined him five hundred thousand cedis.

He was asked to pay the complainant compensation of three hundred thousand cedis or serve three months in jail and pay the court two hundred thousand cedis or serve eight months imprisonment with hard labour.

The Prosecutor, Emmanuel Tawiah Boison told the court that, in October last year, the accused collected an audio cassette player from Addy a schoolboy and later went for his drawing board. When the complainant demanded his items from the accused he was told the cassette player was lost and he later returned the drawing board.

Inspector Boison said at the complainant's house as the accused returned the the drawing board, an argument ensued and in the process the accused pulled a pair of scissors and stabbed the complainant under his left armpit, the back of his head and four other parts of his body, and he took to his heels.

Samuel Addy the brother of the victim gave the accused a hot chase and finally caughtt him and escorted him to the police station where he was arrested.
