British Council marks 65th anniversary

Accra, Nov. 10, GNA - The British Council would mark its 65th Anniversary celebration with a grand musical concert that would feature best Hiplife artist, Kwaw Kesse and the world acclaimed London Community Gospel Choir to further strengthen intercultural dialogue between Ghana and United Kingdom.

Mr. Moses Anibaba, Director of the British Council, who announced this to the press in Accra, said the cosmopolitan concert would include other performances from the Ghanaian duo, Irene Logan and Jane Awindor, a classic neo-traditional song group, Gonje, and the Pan African Orchestra, with backing from the Mega Star Band. He said the anniversary, which would be celebrated under the theme: "British Concil-65 Years and on. Yes UK Can, Because We Can" is designed to celebrate the aspirations of the Council's new strategic focus in creating opportunities in professional development for emerging leaders and young people in Ghana.

The event, which slated for Friday, November 21, would take place at the National Theatre beginning 1830 hours GMT. It would also provide an opportunity for social interaction, bringing together the British Council family both new and old. Mr Anibaba said the celebration would be used to solicit public views on the council's activities in order to meet the specific needs of the Ghanaian community. 10 Nov. 08
