Bukom residents usher in 2004

Buxom (G/A) Jan 1, GNA - Residents of Bukom in Accra who could not hide their joy and ecstasy and screamed and danced to gospel music as the new year approached.

At the Freeman Methodist Church in Bukom members had kept virgil bearing torches to herald the first day of 2004. It was exceedingly a great moment when church members shouted with joy and spread their clothing on the street to welcome the new year.


Mrs Thompson Quartey, member of the church told the GNA that she was committed to her neighbours and God and expressed the hope that the new year would bring all humankind good tidings.

Mr Teiko Tetteh, a fisherman, resident in Bukom, also said he believed that the new year would bring joy and success to all Ghanaians.


In another development people from all walks of life converged at the Oxford Street in Osu, in a frenzy mood to participate in a great carnival that saw the young and old dancing to music and making merry while masquerades entertained the crowd.
