Cape Coast, May 12, GNA - The Central Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) on Wednesday presented musical equipment worth 25 million cedis to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) band, with a call on it to commercialise its activities to generate more revenue for the service.

The equipment presented to the band, known as the 'Fire Angels Dance Band', comprise an audio link, three amplifiers, three microphones, a stabiliser and a 24-channel mixer.

The Regional Coordinating Director, Mr Michael Essandoh, who presented the equipment to the band on behalf of the Regional Minister, suggested that for instance, the band which is resident in Cape Coast, could make its service available to the general public for hiring, during funerals, weddings and other social gatherings.

Mr Essandoh said the equipment were procured in response to an appeal made by the regional directorate of the GNFS to assist the Service in the enhancement of its fire outreach educational programmes. He gave assurance of the RCC's readiness to assist all organisations to discharge their duties efficiently, and urged the GNFS to ensure the regular maintenance of the equipment, so as to prolong their life span.

Mr Kru Agyarko-Attobrah, regional fire officer, who received them, said the service had hitherto, had to hire equipment for the band, since the ones it owned, were defective, and expressed gratitude to the RCC, for responding swiftly to their appeal.

He promised that his outfit would take very good care of the equipment, and maintain them regularly to ensure their durability.
