CWASI OTENG SETS FOR ‘BUT 4 UR MERCY’ PREMIERE

The quest for gospel music sensation, Cwasi Oteng, to make huge a statement about African gospel music is finally taking a strong stance with the forthcoming premiere of his ‘But 4 Ur Mercy’ video, the single of his much talked about ‘Mercy Project’ live album whose release is slated for early next year. The premiere has been scheduled for this Saturday, 2nd October, 6:30 pm, at the plush Le Rendezvous Cinema Hall in Community 11, Tema, amidst a cocktail event for an entry fee of GHc 20.00.

The video was shot a month ago after the audio was released as an album single via a celebration concert early this year. Creatively directed by Nana Kofi Asihene with his NKACC outfit, the entire video shoot was one full of fun as Cwasi and his Flo Riva Inc pals went through many scenes exuding touching expressions that gracefully interpreted of the song. After, a 24-hour non-stop shooting at different locations within the harbour city of Tema, proceeding was brought to an end for the months-planned video shoot. In the end, everyone was satisfied with the output.

A month and some weeks later, the video is ready and the product according to many who have watched it will make a huge statement for Ghana’s gospel music as well as Africa’s. “It is not the typical gospel music video usually seen on TV. This one is youthful, contemporary, simple but creative and full of energy. It will make you want to watch it over and over again while relating to the music,” Joshua, the music director of Flo Riva Inc said.

According to Cwasi Oteng, the premiere was initiated by close friends who wanted to lay emphasis on the theme, support the project and help make a huge statement for gospel music hence the 2o Cedis required as appreciation fee for anyone attending. There would be a moment of socialisation amidst refreshment and music, then a short speech from Cwasi before different viewing sessions. Patrons would also have the opportunity to sign the attendance album and put down their comments and congratulatory message.

Cwasi Oteng broke onto the gospel music scene last year with his unique and inspirational ‘Blessed Are They’ album that earned him huge recognition across board. His stance has been that gospel music has more to offer than many think when it taken as a ministry coupled with an arm for social causes rather than as showbiz. The ‘But 4 Ur Mercy’ video premiere is a must attend.
