Her father has been producing almost all her songs, directing and shooting official music videos but had to feature on her latest and first release in 2020.
Produced by MOG Beatz, Calista’s ‘I Wish’ released on April 10 has her father Quophi Okyeame sing the hook and chorus while she lays some bars on the melodious mid-tempo beat.
"When I asked MOG to produce a beat for her and he did and sent it, I was brainstorming with her and her mother who she could possibly collaborate with. Lots of names came up from we the parents but she was quiet," Quophi Okyeame recalls.
"She finally mentioned my name and politely asked 'Dad will you ever do a song with me?' I was moved, this would be the 4th time asking. I asked her 'why do you insist?' She said, 'for the fun of it. It will be cool.' That melted my big daddy heart. The rest is history."
The song, a motivational piece, seeks to encourage the listener that wishes are only granted in fairy tales hence one has to be the change one wishes to see.
“There is only one you. There is something in the world only you can do,” she raps.
‘I Wish’ is Calista’s fourth studio single after the successful release of ‘I Can Make It’, All Eyes on Me’ and ‘One of a Kind’ in 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively.
