A highly-placed source within award-winning hiplife group 4×4 reveal to ENEWSGH that leader of the group, Captain Planet, is heading out of the group, citing a lack of seriousness by his colleagues Coded and Fresh Prince.
Break-up speculations began when the rapper started releasing solo efforts last year. Already out with No New Friends, and Very Good Bad Girl (ft. Sarkodie), Captain Planet (born born Sylvanus Dodji Jeoffrey) is scheduled to drop Sangbelegbe toward the end of this month, with an accompanying video directed by Prince Dovlo.
“CP [Captain Planet] has always been the driving force of 4×4, and therefore it’s perfectly understandable that he is more serious with music and the future of his career than the others”, our source reveals on condition of anonymity, before disclosing that the group hasn’t been in the studio for about a year.
Captain Planet has set up individual accounts on social media, and seems underway to establishing himself as a solo act, despite unfavourable statistics about the success rates of Ghanaian acts breaking off after a significant while in a group. Nevertheless, the rapper and boutique CEO, who flows in 7 languages, hopes to be the exception.
Formed in 2000 by Captain Planet (Sylvanus Dodji Jeoffrey) and Coded (Raphael Edem Avornyo) with the help of mentors Buk Bak, they were joined buy singer Fresh Prince (Prince Tamakloe) in 2007. They are also among the most consistent groups in Ghana.
Among their recent singles are Tantalizing, Auntie Dede, and Baby Dance, and Atongo.
