Car dealer remanded for fraud

Tema, April 7, GNA- A car dealer who defrauded a security man under the pretext of selling him a car was on Tuesday remanded in custody by the Tema circuit court "A".

Christopher Nartey pleaded not guilty and will reappear on May 4. Police Inspector Adolphus Otchere, told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on November 17, 1999, a friend of the complainant introduced Nartey to him and he (the complainant) showed interest in a car valued at six million cedis.

He said the accused agreed that the car would be given to Mr Raphael Fiawunor on "work and pay" basis, and the amount was paid to the accused on November 11, 1999 in the presence of a witness in the case. Nartey after collecting the money went into hiding in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Inspector Otchere said on April 4, 2004, Mr Fiawunor found Nartey at Community seven and with the help of others, arrested him and sent him to the police.
