Care for gospel musicians well - Pastors advised

Gospel act Superintendent Kofi Sarpong has called on pastors of churches who organize music programs to cater for musicians when they invite them to their churches.

“We go to the studios to record with money but we sometimes perform at programs and they give us water in polythene bags at the end of the day. Fortunately for me, I have a profession so I pay my backing vocalists and instrumentalists with my own money after the shows.”

“I am saying this to our ministers and pastors that they should look after our musicians well other than that, it will come to a time people will not be able to go to the studio and record again. If you do not need me, my CD’s are out there for you to buy and play at your programs so why do you have to call me to come and perform in person. Is it because my appearance will make an impact on the show?”

According to him, some musicians have nothing else doing apart from music and they board cars and wear attires to attend these programs and their expenses are not taken care of.

Giving an example, he said; “I met a renowned female gospel musician and in a conversation, she disclosed that after ministering at a program, a lady approached her and said she can tell that gospel musician, likes the particular footwear she was wearing because she has seen it on her on three different occasions wearing the same thing.”

SP Sarpong is known for songs like Adom Bi, Meto Ndwom, Oyame Dadano, Ohaw Ne Obre, and Sacrifice.
