Careless driver fined one million cedis

Elmina (C/R), April 28, GNA- Alex Otoo, a 23-year-old driver, from Cape Coast was on Tuesday fined one million cedis for careless driving and negligently causing harm by a District Court at Elmina in the Central Region.

Otoo, who pleaded guilty, would go to jail for six months in default.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Keyward Adjei, told the court that on January 14, this year, at about 0645 hours, Otoo who was driving Mercedes Benz truck from Abura a suburb of Cape Coast to Coconut Grove hotel at Elmina, failed to observe traffic ahead of him and crashed into a taxi-cab and injured the driver and a passenger on it and caused damage to the vehicle.
