Caretaker remanded for causing harm

Tema, June 9, GNA - A 40-year-old caretaker who injured three people over a boundary dispute of a house at Bethlehem, Ashaiman, has been remanded into custody by the Tema circuit court "B".

Lawrence Narh Chindi, Driver, pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault and will re-appear on June 26, 2004.

The prosecution told the Court, presided over by Mr Stephen Teye, that on May 16, 2004, at 0930 hours, a misunderstanding arose between the three people and the accused over the construction of a fence wall. In the course of the confrontation, the accused became infuriated and hit the first complainant, Mr Bright Amlado, with a block and he fell unconscious.

The Court heard that the second complainant, Rose Amlado and the third complainant, Dina Amlado went to the aid of Bright, and they were also assaulted by the accused.

The prosecution said Bright was rushed to the Narh-Bita hospital, where he was admitted, while the two other complainants reported the case to the Ashaiman police.

The accused was arrested on May 17 and in his caution statement, he stated that Rose and Dina rather attacked him at his compound with stones, injuring him on the head.

The prosecution said Bright was discharged from hospital on May 19 and was referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
