Tema, May 13, GNA- A 29-year-old carpenter who stole seven million cedis belonging to a trader has been remanded by the Tema circuit court "A".

Samuel Yaw Hamadi pleaded not guilty and will reappear on May 18. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Christopher Quaicoe told the court that due to his friendship with the complainant, Ms Joyce Anenyo, the accused had access to her room at daytime any day without knocking the door. He said in the evening of May 3, the complainant returned from market and kept 17 million cedis in her room.

On May 6, at about 2100 hours, Ms Anenyo recounted her money and to her dismay she detected the theft of seven million cedis out of the 17 million cedis that she had kept in her room.

Chief Inspector Quaicoe said she suspected her friend, Hamadi and when he asked him, he allegedly admitted the offence and made part payment of two million cedis to the police.
