A publication in a Ghanaian weekly entertainment newspaper that hiplife musician Theophilus Tagoe, popularly called Castro de Destroyer was wanted by the police for murder was not true after all.

Upon publication of the said story which implicated Castro in the murder of one Darren Danso, 25, the artiste and Ras Kelly, in the company of Manager Darlynn Amess Kotei, on their own volition went to the CID Headquarters to formally report.

It however turned out that the police had not issued any warrant or left any message in his house that Castro should report himself as suggested by the publication.

The police were even surprised to see the artiste and his entourage at the CID Headquarters.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, Amess said when they reported to the police last Thursday, they showed a copy of the newspaper to the investigator, one Akakpo, who denied ever issuing such news item for publication.

Amess noted that the investigator made the artiste write a statement, after which they were ‘detained’ at the CID Headquarters for more than six hours.

He explained that even though they were not locked up in cells, keeping them at the premises of the CID Headquarters from 10.30am to 4.30pm amounted to detention.

It would be recalled that DAILY GUIDE first broke the news on the murder of Danso who was shot in the chest by unidentified assailants as he was about to move his car after ‘chilling’ with a girlfriend at the Aphrodisiac Nite Club at Airport Residential Area.

Danso was said to have entered his grey Audi saloon car with registration GW 22 V with his girlfriend when one of the assailants knocked on his car door.

As Danso tried rolling down the window, one of the assailants shot him in the chest at close range and bolted.

He was rushed to the Nyaho Clinic but was immediately referred to the 37 Military Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Mr. Amess related that on that fateful day, Castro had a lady visitor, one Sheryl, from Liberia, who had come to request him to perform in Liberia.

He said Castro, Ras Kelly, two dancers and the lady went to the Nite Club to entertain themselves when the incident happened, adding that the artiste and his entourage were in the club when they heard that someone had been shot at the car park.

“As curious as they were as any human being, Castro joined the other clubbers to see for themselves what had happened.

“When they got there the police had already cordoned the place for the deceased’s body to be taken away. So where was he involved in the case?”

Amess indicated that after writing their statement the police ‘released’ them and told them that they would be invited to assist in investigations.

He however promised the artiste’s readiness to cooperate with the police to track down the assailants.

A check at the police CID Headquarters indicated that the police were still investigating the matter and hoped to unmask those behind the dastardly act.

Danso was alleged to have been involved in some shady deals while in the UK and had to relocate to Ghana to escape death as he was being threatened. He was however traced to Ghana and murdered in cold blood.
