Pastor cum gospel musician, Sonnie Badu, has shared his views on the ongoing controversy regarding the National Cathedral construction.

In an interview on Empire FM, the Rockhill Chapel founder stated that if the president made an individual oath to God, he is obliged to fulfil it personally.

While acknowledging the complex nature of the project, Badu emphasised that President Akufo-Addo must still honour his vow.

He raised concerns about involving the public in this promise, citing individuals in the bible who ensured they honoured their personal commitments to God.

“If that was the vow the president made to God, then he must honour it, and that is a personal matter between him and God, where the whole confusion is, is the fact that some individuals are been asked to contribute," he said.

Using the famous national mosque complex built by the Muslim community as an example, Sonnie Badu noted that it was a collective effort, unlike the president’s individual vow.

“The reason for the problems and confusion is that it wasn’t a collective vow like what is done in the Muslim community, where mosques are built through collective effort,” he added.

Sonnie Badu also acknowledged that the president's decision to build a National Cathedral is not entirely a bad idea.
