A 34-year-old Nigerian, who claims he is from Krachi in the Volta Region, Muftawu Yussif Aribidesi, aka Killian Prince, a resident of Kotobabi in Accra has been convicted and sentenced to 4 years imprisonment in hard labour by the Accra Circuit Court B presided over by His Honour Emmanuel Ankamah.

Killian Prince pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful entry and possessing of instruments intended or adapted for unlawful entry and was convicted on his own plea.

Prosecuting, Inspector Joseph Ohemeng told the court that Killian Prince alleged he is a trader who imports children?s wear and deals in other items. He said on January 18, at about 3am, Killian Prince went to the Mallam Atta market and climbed the roof of a certain house. He passed through a small ventilation hole and entered into the ceiling of an adjoining store.

Inspector Ohemeng said while Killian Prince was climbing, some ladies in the house saw him and alerted the Security man on duty at the shell filling station nearby. A police patrol team was immediately called to the scene. They tried calling whoever was in the ceiling to come down but all their effort was in vain.

The occupants of the house were warned by the Patrol Team to stay awake till morning so as to identify whoever will come out of the roof and for possible inspection.

At about 9am in the morning, the Storekeeper, Kofi Nti arrived and was told of the incident. He opened the store and searched but there was no one inside. While going about cleaning the shop, he heard some noise in the ceiling. He was therefore left with no other alternative than to break the ceiling, which he did.

On breaking the ceiling, he found Killian Prince, lying on the wood of the ceiling like a lizard. He was immediately brought down and questioned as to what he was doing there. He was not able to give them any tangible reason why he was there but only begged for forgiveness.

When searched, a steel cutter, screwdriver, torchlight and a twine rope were found on him. He was immediately escorted to the Kotobabi Police Station where a report was made and he was formally arrested. He admitted when cautioned by the Police and still begged for forgiveness. He was however processed and arraigned before the court where he was jailed.
