These colourful images by Ghanaian photographer Ben Bond aptly summarise Chale Wote 2017 –one of the continent’s biggest platforms for alternative art, music, dance and performance returns to the coastal city of Jamestown.
Attended by thousands of art lovers from across the globe, it featured installations from from over 30 Ghana-based artists and include the participation of artists from South Africa, Zambia, Nigeria, the U.S., France, Australia, Kenya, Canada, Kenya, Poland, Argentina and Brazil.
This year’s edition, held between August 14- 20, ran on the theme “Wata Mata”.
Chale Wote was founded in 2011, and aims at promoting alternative art through street painting, graffiti murals, photography, theater, spoken word, interactive art installations, live street performances, extreme sports, film shows, a fashion parade, a music block party, recyclable design workshops, among others.
