Juaso (Ash), May 9, GNA -A 35-year-old chopbar keeper at Agogo who allegedly stole a goat from a brother's pen to prepare food for sale has been remanded into custody by the Juaso circuit court. Alfred Wiredu pleaded not guilty to stealing and will re-appear on May 17.

Chief Inspector Haruna Salifu, prosecuting, told the court that on April 1, this year, police had information that Wiredu had stolen a goat from a pen, slaughtered it and was preparing soup for sale to the public.

He said police confronted the chopbar keeper in his house and in his explanation told them that he bought the goat from Brekete village near Agogo.

However, in his caution statement, he changed his version and stated that he took the goat from his brother's pen at Agogo and the brother was aware.

Chief Inspector Haruna said investigations revealed that his brother, who works at Begoro in the Eastern Region, has not been in town for the past three months.
