Musician Mzbel (L) has refuted allegations made by media personality Doreen Avio
Ghanaian musician Belinda Ekuah Amoah, known in the entertainment industry as Mzbel, has taken to social media to refute allegations made against her by media personality Doreen Avio.
Recently, Doreen Avio, in an interview with Stacy Amoateng, that was shared on social media, recounted that Mzbel caused her emotional distress by verbally abusing her.
According to Doreen Avio, Mzbel nearly cost her her job after falsely accusing her of airing a confidential interview without her knowledge.
“There’s a female celebrity who stressed me out. I had never heard anyone call me a witch until she said that to me. She cursed me and said I would suffer in life.
“After the interview was aired, I didn’t have peace because Mzbel started creating issues for me. She said I didn’t inform her that I was recording the interview, and I asked her why I would interview her if it was not meant to be recorded,” Doreen recounted.
Following the interview, Mzbel, in a Facebook post sighted by GhanaWeb on January 4, 2025, refuted the claims made by the journalist.

According to Mzbel, the allegations were false, prompting her to describe the media personality as a “chronic liar.”
She said; “After everything you put me through, it is deeply painful to watch you tell lies again on live television. You called requesting an interview, and I clearly explained why I could not grant any media interview. After that, you began sharing your own difficult experiences with the police, and in that spirit, I shared mine, unaware that I was being secretly recorded.”
The "16 Years" singer also debunked Doreen Avio’s claim that she was sexually assaulted by the Ghana Police Service.
According to Mzbel, the claim is false.
She added that the media house later invited her to render an unqualified apology after the interview was aired.

“Let me be clear: I never said the police sexually molested me. That claim is false. The accusations were about assault and bribery. The media house later invited my manager and me and apologised in the presence of many witnesses, including Doreen Avio and Daddy Bosco, after the truth came out and my manager threatened legal action,” she said.
Mzbel further accused Doreen Avio of recycling old rumours about her in an attempt to discredit her.
“Because of an old lie told about me years ago, allegations of sexual misconduct are repeatedly attached to my name whenever people like Doreen want to discredit me and play the victim. It is cruel and dishonest,” she added.
