Multipurpose entertainment centre Citizen Kofi over the weekend swept most of the awards at the maiden West African Tourism and hospitality awards (WATHA) ceremony held at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.

The event which is supported by the Institute of Hospitality UK was held to award various players in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry across the West African Sub Region and featured nominations from Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Ivory Coast, Benin, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Benin among others.

The awards were given based on a combination of online voting and Judging by a panel that included Trevor Ward from the UK, Brenda Roopai from South Africa, Adeline Boateng from Ghana and Bola Jaiyeola from Nigeria.

And at the end of the day, Ghana’s Citizen Kofi Entertainment Centre swept as many as four awards, when it emerged as the Best Brand of the year, Tourism Project of the Year, Best Membership Club of the Year and Best Quick Service Restaurant of the Year. The most won by any company at the awards ceremony.

The marketing manager of Citizen Kofi Entertainment, Mr. Seth Miah in receiving the awards dedicated them to the customers and employees of Citizen Kofi, who he said are the reason behind the success story. He added that receiving four awards at such a prestigious event after only one year of operation is a testament to how the concept of Citizen Kofi Entertainment has come to stay.

He intimated that the Multipurpose entertainment centre concept was seen as a risk by many and too ‘Las Vegas’ or ‘First world’. However, CKE’s clientele of upwardly mobile Ghanaians, Mid to Upper class segment, business people and expatriates have taken to the concept. “The next step is to develop in House programs around our segment”, he added.

He also used the opportunity to debunk the notion that CKE was expensive, adding that the value CKE provide is priceless and you don’t pay to enter as is been peddled around.

He further added that, these awards would spur management and staff of CKE on to providing more world class products and services for its customers. And in line with this Citizen kofi will soon launch an in house comedy show, and a Health/Wealth Club to maximize the potentials of business networking and entrepreneurship.
