Two of Ghana’s metropolitan cities Accra and Kumasi, will come alive as Classical Music Ghana partners Opera Mauritius to deliver a night of thrilling classicals and opera featuring L’Ensemble 415 from Mauritius and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ghana. The event dubbed ‘L’Ensemble 415 Live In Concert’, is expected to pique the interest of Ghanaians in classical music.

The first show will be held in Kumasi on Friday, the 21st of July, 2017 while Accra takes it turn at the National Theatre on Saturday, the 22nd of July, 2017.

At a press conference at the National Theatre on Wednesday to launch the concert, Interim Chairman of Classical Music Ghana, Alex Osei Owusu Esq. disclosed that the show will be one of the many to be held in promoting classical music by the association in Ghana. He acknowledged the remarkable dominance of classical music in Mauritius which explains the decision to team up with Opera Mauritius.

Speaking on the low level of recognition accorded to classical music in Ghana, Interim Secretary for Classical Music Ghana, Afia Korankyewaa Ntim, mentioned that her association is in talks with the government of Ghana to introduce the teaching and learning of classical music at the various levels of education.

Afia Korankyewaa Ntim added that the concert is to introduce the Ghanaian populace to this form of music which is predominant in the European and Latin American countries.

‘This is the maiden event…this is the event to introduce Ghana to classical music to those who know and those who don’t know about it. We urge everyone to endeavour to attend’, she said.

The concert will begin at 6:00pm each night with tickets available at the gate. Patrons can get their tickets ahead of time by calling 0548881111 or 0303989817.
