Ho, Oct. 13, GNA - Prospective clients of Gateway Broadcast Service (GBS), a satellite television network, are demanding quality service from the network to reflect the fanfare and assurances with which it entered the Ghanaian market.

They also are demanding that its content reflects Ghanaian and African cultural values as well as project Ghana's positive image to the rest of the world. These demands were made at the launch of the UK registered network at Ho.

The 15-channel network is the latest pay per view satellite television network to enter the Ghanaian market.

Its channels are Prime, Sports one (1), Sports two (2) and Fox Sports, BBC World, SKY News, Zee Cinema, Aljazeera, NICKELLODEON, E. Entertainment, KISS, MTV base, TV5MONDE, GOD and MGM. Mr Michael Yamson, General Manager of the Network, said a Pan-African channel would be launched next month in addition to training of technicians as well as the creation of regional offices to address clients' needs.

"Great things", he said, "must be done carefully". He said clients would pay a monthly subscription of 38.50 Ghana cedis to have access to all the channels while clients who would not subscribe to the sports channels would pay 10.22 Ghana Cedis monthly subscription fee.

Software, hardware and installation would cost 239.00 Ghana Cedis. Mr Joseph Nayan, Deputy Volta Regional Minister, said the Volta Regional Coordinating Council was ready to support private sector investment initiatives in the region.

He said private investment in the information and communication sectors were vital to nurturing a well-informed and confident citizenry. Mr Nayan said care ought to be taken to ensure that such services did not corrupt the tastes and morals of the Ghanaian society. Mr Dela Gadzanku, Chief Executive Officer of Del Group, said the predominantly youthful management team of GBS showed that the youth have accepted the challenge to venture into private investment to create jobs in the country.

He appealed to the youth in the Volta Region to develop their entrepreneurial inclinations and invest in the region.
