The Ghanaian born American based musician is the newest reggae sensation with beliefs in root reggae that encourages his desire to tell his story from his childhood experiences and struggles in Ghana before moving to the USA. His music life begun in the late 90s when he had the experience of meeting Alpha Blondy—the Ivorian reggae superstar in Avenue 13 of Treichville in Abidjan, the capital of Ivory Coast.
That meeting left a strong impression on Cojo Tee as it greatly influenced his love for the reggae genre and left him with a personal vow to carry the reggae music to a whole new level. He then on decided to give his fans sentimental lyrics sometimes laced with authentic Ghanaian influences in a way that portrays his Ashanti personality.
Speaking of his Ashanti background, Cojo Tee says his new release, 'Ashanti Warrior' has an eye-popping music video on the heels of the single “Babylon On The Run” which he dedicated to the street life in the ghettos of America.
'Ashanti Warrior' presents Cojo Tee as the new Sheriff in town who comes to frown upon the high crime rate and deaths by gun violence especially within the African American communities in which he has lived, especially in the economically deprived areas like parts of the Bronx in New York and streets in Ghana on which he grew up like Tema, Kumasi, Takoradi and Accra—the capital of Ghana.
'I am through my music simply trying to bring peace and harmony back to the neighborhoods of my adopted American streets. By bringing to the fore my Ghanaian traits which preaches peace and tolerance'. In a response to why he is not doing this also in Ghana, Cojo Tee says that just because he is not doing it in Ghana does not mean he will not be able to also positively impact lives in Ghana too.
Music he says is a universal language and 'it is not where you are that really matters but the power of your lyrics and their ability to positively influence lives all over is what counts' he says, going on to cites legends like Bob Marley of Jamaica and Frank Sinatra of the USA, both of whom he holds a lot of respect for.
Azonto reggae is the next big project of Cojo Tee which has a revolutionary tracks, one of which he has dubbed 'Ajoa D3d3w' in the legendary Akan language of the historic Ashanti in Ghana. This will be the debut international album for the artist who hails from Sekondi, in the Western region of Ghana. Besides his musical and other entertaining talents, Ike Tee Ewudzi aka Cojo Tee holds an MA degree in Organizational Psychology that he earned from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago-Illinois.
