After 6 successful editions that have produced several amazing acts over the years, confusion is starting to brew over the original owners and creators of the music reality show – ‘MTN Hitmaker’ – and www.entertainmentgh.com is amazed!

This portal,www.entertainmentgh.com can state that, the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is claiming to be the originators of the reality show, while MTN, the producers and title sponsors of the reality show since its inception – think otherwise.

Speaking on GhOne TV’s ‘The Pundits’ on Tuesday January 23, the Membership & Business Manager for MUSIGA Mr. Adu-Poku, alluded that MUSIGA created the reality show that MTN is currently handling.

“MTN did not create Hitmaker. It’s an original MUSIGA property,” he said on the show.

In an exclusive interview with www.entertainmentgh.com to react to the issue, Chris Adamah of the Public Affairs Department of MTN said the claim was false and that MTN only invited MUSIGA to partner the maiden edition of the reality show as a way of showing courtesy to the musicians’ body.

“I don’t know Mr. Adu-Poku and in starting ‘MTN Hitmaker’, it was MTN’s idea to bring young people who are out of school, the opportunity to show their talent to the world,” an official from MTN explained.

“MUSIGA came in because they were called to be partners. They are not actively involved as they were from the beginning. The help offered by MUSIGA was that during the first edition MUSIGA made their hall available,” he added.

The MTN Hitmaker is a music reality show opened to Ghanaians who believe they are primed to be hit makers. The show strives to discover and nurture the great creative potential in Ghana. Freda was crowned winner of MTN Hitmaker 6 as she made history, by setting the pace for prospective female contestants on the music reality show to go for gold.
