Cape Coast, Dec, 19, GNA – A Magistrate’s Court in Cape Coast was thrown into laughter on Monday, when an electrician who attempted to break into a room at Tantri, a suburb of the city, said he was drunk and did not realize that the room he was entering was not his.

James Walker, a resident of Elmina, who had pleaded guilty to causing damage and unlawful entry, made the claim when the court asked him to explain his action.

The court presided over by Mr. Kwame Ohemeng Mensah, however, rejected the explanation and sentenced him to six months imprisonment.

Sergeant Charles Effah told the court that around midnight on Wednesday, December 14, the complainant, Mr. Julius Nii Adottey, an air condition repairer, left his windows opened whilst sleeping because his room was warm.

He said the convict, removed the sliding window with a cutlass and attempted to enter the complainant’s room when he was asleep.

Sgt Effah said a next door neighbour of the complainant, Papa Annan, who saw him from his room, approached the convict and found him with a cutlass.

Sgt. Effah said Annan hit Walker at the back and the cutlass Walker was holding fell and he was pulled out of the window.

Sgt. Effah said Annan raised the alarm, which attracted a crowd that assisted in arresting Walker.
