Coronavirus: Traditional priests in Aflao perform 'juju' against spread of disease

In the wake and spread of the coronavirus in Ghana, religious bodies have been urged by President Akufo-Addo to seek God’s intervention to ward off the disease.

On March 15, 2020, the president, in a televised addressed to the nation called on all religious bodies and Ghanaians to pray for divine reinforcement in the fight against the COVID-19.

Churches in the country led the National Day of Prayer in the country which was set aside by the president on March 25, 2020. Ghana News Agency reports that traditional priests in Aflao have offered animal sacrifice to deities of the land to expel "evil spirits" believed to be responsible for the coronavirus pandemic.

The priests, brought together by Togbui Adzogaga Amenya Fiti V, Paramount Chief of Aflao Traditional area, would offer sacrifices for three days after, which they said a torrential downpour would wipe out the disease from Ghana and the world.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Veronica Bekoe, the inventor of the Veronica Bucket which is a portable bucket-like container with a spigot attached revealed that it was invented 30 years ago. The Veronica Bucket is one of the products on demand in the wake of the deadly coronavirus.
