Accra, Sept. 28, GNA - Two Nigerian women who were engaged in a fight over a male friend were on Monday bonded by a Circuit Court in Accra for 12 months or default go to jail for four months.

The court presided over by Mr. D.E.K. Daketse warned that they faced deportation should they fall foul of the conditions set by the court. Joy Owereboro was facing a charge of causing harm to Stephanie Albert after the two had fought over a male friend.

Joy pleaded guilty and was admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢2,000. During the fight Joy stabbed Stephanie in the right palm. But after attending court for 14 times they both announced to the court they were settling the matter amicably after a representative of the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana had intervened.

On announcing the settlement to the court, the case was struck out but the Court ruled that both complainant and accused should sign bonds to be of good behaviour.

The case as presented by the prosecutor, ASP Reindolf Agyemang, is that Staphanie, the complainant and Joy, the accused person, both lodged at California Hotel at Adabraka in Accra.

On March 13, this year at about 0700 hours, a misunderstanding arose between the two over a male visitor at the hotel. This, the prosecution said, resulted in a heated exchange of words and eventually degenerated into a fight. The prosecution said thereafter Stephanie dragged Joy into her room and they fought again, during which Joy stabbed Stephanie in her right palm. The two women lodged separate complainants with the Police at Adabraka. 28 Sept. 09
