An Accra Circuit Tribunal has ordered the arrest of the Proprietor of Tamara Restaurant in Accra, Miss Tamara Botsio, for failing to appear before it. Tamara charged with fictitious trading is alleged to have defaulted in paying for three dogs worth 2,300 dollars belonging to one Justice Kissi Eyimah.
She pleaded not guilty when she initially appeared before court and already on a 10 million Cedis bail with a surety. Tamara was scheduled to reappear on December 3 but failed to do so without the courts permission. A Bench Warrant was subsequently issued for arrest.
According to the prosecution, Tamara last May, rang Mr Eyimah and asked him to supply her with four dogs and two kennels. The supplies were effected at a cost of 2,300 dollars but the accused made a part payment of 800 dollars and asked Mr Eyimah for time to settle the balance.
About one month later, Tamara again rang and informed Mr Eyimah that her friend also needed three dogs and would pay for them immediately. Tamara asked Mr Eyimah to write the invoice in her name, which he did. She paid an additional two million Cedis to Mr Eyimah for the first consignment and promised to collect the rest of the money from her friend to pay up for the second consignment but she failed to do so.
The prosecution said whenever Mr Eyimah demanded the rest of the money from Tamara she was reluctant to pay. Mr Eyimah then refunded the 800 dollars and two million Cedis to Tamara and retrieved four of the dogs. All efforts by Mr Eyimah to retrieve the three other dogs or get paid for them proved futile and so he reported the matter to the police. Lady Tamara acquired her fame in the Country's Entertainment Industry during the late 1970's when she became a popular sexy-Dancer.
