Sekondi, July 15, GNA- A Sekondi Magistrate's court was on Thursday compelled to discharge Robert Pekyi, a 21-year-old artist due to his poor health.
The accused, who made his first appearance before the court on 13 May, 2003 for unlawful entry, stealing and causing damage, nearly disrupted the court proceedings when he started vomiting clots of blood each time he coughed.
Mr Seyram Tsatsu Yao Azumah the presiding judge, lawyers, policemen and the gallery observed that the victim's condition was a symptom of Tuberculosis and therefore discharged him.
Lawyer Joseph Abakah, who stood in as a friend of the court pleaded with the court to take a second look at the case since it had dragged on for over a year.
Mr Azumah therefore discharged the accused to go and seek medical attention.
The prosecution said the accused allegedly destroyed the door of Thomas Eshun the complainant and stole 4.6 million cedis from his room.
